About the World Alliance for Arts Education
The World Alliance for Arts Education is a network of the four organisations: International Drama/Theatre and Education Association (IDEA), International Society for Education through Art (InSEA), International Society for Music Education (ISME) and World Dance Alliance (WDA) – a powerful voice for advocacy, networking and research.
The World Alliance for Arts Education is committed to advancing arts education for all learners, at all age levels, in formal and informal settings, and across all arts disciplines. Working as a united force for arts education, the partnership of the four organisations is uniquely designed to work alongside one another. WAAE does not gather membership fees. Members of the four organisations IDEA, InSEA, ISME and WDA are automatically members of the World Alliance for Arts Education Events held under the auspices of WAAE are often partnered with other local and/or national organisations further demonstrating our desire to work alongside one another, across cultures, histories and socio-economic affiliations. Each world summit or conference is thematically oriented in an effort to address local or regional concerns within an international community.
Every year we celebrate the International Week of Arts Education. The International Arts Education Week aims at increasing the international community’s awareness on the importance of arts education and at reinforcing its co-operation by promoting cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and social cohesion.
