Through arts in education we address social justice and climate justice issues, we foster empathy and understanding. Facing the current state of global violence, we will not bow down! We pledge for artistic expression as a tool for dialogue, reconciliation, and inclusivity. Facing the current state of bipolarization, racism and xenophobia, we will stand up strongly against them! We pledge for democratic citizenship and peacebuilding. WAAE, call for the 2025 International week of Arts Education INVISIBILIDADES, the Ibero-American Journal of Research in Education, Culture and Arts, aims to publish and disseminate technical-scientific and artistic works in the areas of Art Education, Art and Design Education; Art and Culture, Art and Technology; Arts and Community; Visual Culture; Visual Literacy and related topics. The journal guarantees open content for all issues. The journal is especially open to professionals in education through the arts; visual education; theater-education, music education; non-formal education through the arts and arts education. For this special issue, with the title ‘We Will Not Bow Down’, we focus on the recent global and local conflicts and unbalances to question how do arts education, artistic, pedagogical and curricular theories, forms and practices respond to celerity of the technologies, climate and social unbalances, unpredictability and disruptive events. We seek contributions that explore how arts education might become, by bringing up questions such as decolonization, alternative ways of living and learning; nomadic societies; intergenerational and transdisciplinary strategies in formal education; extension of informal education to health and wellbeing. We welcome articles which include contemporary theorising of arts education pedagogies, including but not limited to, themes such as participatory action research in arts and culture; posthuman challenges, slow cultures; Indigenous knowledges, new materialist, feminist, and speculative approaches to education. We seek innovative articles between 4,000-8000 words, or visual essays with up to 12 images and between 2,000- 4,000 words. Submissions are open until 1st September 2025, and should include a separate file with the title of the proposal, an abstract up to 500 words, and up to 5 keywords, authors names and affiliations, contact details of the principal author, and 150-word bio for each author. The deadline for submissions will be September 1st, 2025.
